After running Artmin Design for 11 years, I have decided to retire, so
Artmin Design will be closing on the 30th November 2018. A big thank you
to all my customers over the years who helped me build the
Here are a few miniature badges for a Rover P5 1/10th scale model. The badges themselves are 2.4mm high x 19mm long by 0.5mm thick. The letters are just 1.5mm tall and were cut using a 0.1mm diameter cutter.
Even though the physical sizes are small, there are still 8,500 lines of machine code involved in the machining of these.
I have now made a grille badge in brass for the same model. Size is 6mm tall by 4.5mm wide.
Another job that I was asked to do recently was to create badges for a scale model of a Fordson Super Major tractor. The largest badge was only to be about 103mm in length with fixing holes for securing.
After machining and a quick outer polish:
I only have Honda orange enamel for filling, but I think that it came out pretty close to the original. The Super Major text was then lightly filled with black and 'polished out' to try to recreate an authentic weathered look:
Below are some images of various Land Rover badges that I have been making
over the past couple of weeks. As you can see I have been experimenting with
additional fill colours.

Land Rovers contacted me to see if I could produce a badge for the rear of
their vehicles. The image below shows the resulting badges. They can now be
seen adorning their mouth watering stock, which can be found here: John Brown Land Rovers
Some more custom badges to finish off some Series rebuilds:

Defender rear badges:
Range Rover Classic badges: I was asked to see if I could reproduce the
lower portion of the Classic badge to match with the black & silver Land
Rover badges. Unfortunately I don't have a black & silver badge, but here
it is with the green version:
And finally a request for a new rear badge for the rear of a Defender 50th:
The last couple of months have been hectic with orders, but I have been working away in the background to develop some model gauges for Toylander. In this case the dials are for the TL2 model.
They are based on Series IIA dials and are constructed from
layers of laser engraved black anodised aluminium and acrylic. The needles are
cut from 0.5mm plastic and the lights are diamante crystals. These are
The mounting hole size is 64mm which coincides with a
standard size of hole saw.Total depth
of the TEMP/FUEL gauge is 13.5mm and the Speedo, 7.5mm. The outer
bezel diameter is 68mm.
